Thoughts by JS

Today is November 4th 2008 and it’s Election Day across the country. I am hoping to wake up the next day and come to know that Barack Obama will be the next president of the United States of America. Not just because he’s black which might have something to do with it but for the reason that he is an ordinary man even though that phrase is a little cliché but it’s true in the sense because of how he comes from a down to earth family; he has a white mother and a black father from Kenya which shows his cultural identity. His accolades are amazing; coming from a small town in Kansas to going to the best schools in the country and earning various degrees and the knowledge that he has gained he used it to help the fellow man . Mr. Obama is a trail blazer not just to people of color but to the average families across the country by showing that anybody can be successful no matter what the trials and tribulations they have gone through that someone is in the same “boat” and understands ware you are coming from. On the down side I fear that if he does become president that racial supremacist groups such as the Klu Klux Klan would assassinate him like they did to the late great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. If this does happen the country will be in total turmoil and will be very hard to rise out form especially in black America. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjXyqcx-mYY YES WE CAN!!!!!!
